Jobe Valves Topaz PartFill Float Valve: Smart Rainwater Harvesting Backup
The Topaz PartFill is a high-flow valve purpose-built for rainwater harvesting tanks. Rather than keeping your tank topped off, it automatically maintains a low reserve level of water during dry spells—so services fed by the tank keep running while the rest of the tank stays empty and ready to capture the next rainfall.
This model comes with the Detach Long Tail (DLT)—a unique, extended thread that includes a seal washer and backing nut, so no other fittings are required. The threads extend through the tank, with the seal washer inside and the backing nut outside; once tightened, the remaining exposed threads accept your water supply line, holding the valve securely in place.
How It Works
- The valve installs through the side wall of a storage tank, mounted above the tank's overflow level to prevent backflow.
- As the tank empties, the weighted float travels down the cord and sits on the bottom stop, activating the valve.
- The valve runs until the weighted float lifts clear of the bottom stop.
- The float then rises as rainwater fills the tank, and falls as the tank is used.
- The valve only functions when rainfall is insufficient to maintain water above the bottom stop—letting rainwater do the work whenever it can.
Applications:
- Rainwater harvesting tanks
- Water cisterns
- Irrigation and process applications
Features:
- Compatible with all makes and models of rainwater harvesting tanks
- Compact, non-corroding construction
- Lock-off switch for maintenance
- Up to 150mm differential obtainable, depending on pressure
- Detach™ Valve Seal Access System (Patented) for quick access to the valve seal
Long Tail vs. Short Tail
The key difference is the amount of thread available to attach to your plumbing—short tail valves do not include a backing nut and seal washer. See our Detach Short Tail and Detach Long Tail pages for details.
Selecting the Right Inlet Size
Match your valve's inlet size to your supply plumbing—your flow rate will always be limited by the smallest pipe in the system. If you upgrade your plumbing later, a different Detach tail can adapt your existing valve instead of requiring a full replacement.
