Jobe Valves, Topaz Differential Float Valve.
Description
The Topaz Differential Float valve is ideal for use in water tanks which are filled by a pressure system-controlled water pump. Topaz Differential float valves give a level difference which is adjustable from 50mm up to 2.5m to minimize starting and stopping of the pumping system.
DLT (Detachable Long Tail) – the Detach Long Tail is a unique thread that is longer than standard threads, and includes a seal washer and backing nut. The threads are designed to hold the valve in place in a tank, so no other fittings are required. The threads extend through the tank ,with the seal washer inside the tank, and the backing nut on the outside. The nut is tightened up, leaving remaining threads exposed for the water supply line to be attached.
Applications
Maintaining Water Levels in:
• Water Storage Tanks
• Water Cisterns
• Irrigation Applications
Principle of Operation
• The valve mounts at the top of the tank. It fits easily through a thin-walled tank or screws into a threaded tank inlet.
• As the tank empties the weighted float travels down the cord until it hits the bottom stop. The valve then opens immediately to give a full flow.
• The valve now runs constantly, and the weighted float rises until it hits the upper float stop. This lifts the arm and the valve shuts down.
• Observe the pressure that your pump runs at while the tank is filling. Set the pressure switch to turn the pump off
at a pressure at least one bar above the running pressure.
Features
• High flow
• Start and stop levels can be easily adjusted to give water level differentials
from 50mm to 2.5 m
• Keeps pump operation to a minimum.
• Detach™ Valve Seal Access System for quick access to valve seal (Patented)
• Ideal for all makes and models of tanks.
Long Tail VS Short Tail:
The Key Difference between long and short tail is the amount of thread available to attach to your plumbing. Another important distinction is that short tail valves do not include a backing nut and seal washer. For more information please review this post.
Selecting the right inlet size:
Selecting the right size inlet is very important to the performance of your Jobe Valve. The inlet of the float valve should match your supply plumbing. For instance if your supply plumbing is 3/4" you will get no better performance from a 1" valve. Your flow rate will always be limited by the smallest pipe. Always match your float valve inlet size to your water supply pipe size. If you intend on upgrading your water supply plumbing at some point you can always purchase a different Detach tail.
