The Power of the Detach System

At the heart of this product is the patented Jobe Valves Detach System. This proprietary quick-release mechanism allows the user to remove the main body of the float valve from the plumbing inlet with a simple quarter counter-clockwise turn—no tools, no wrenches, and no complex disassembly required. This speed and ease of access make routine maintenance much simpler. Routine servicing, such as cleaning the internal inlet filter to prevent blockages or checking the diaphragm, can be completed in seconds. Critically, because the inlet fitting remains securely attached to the tank, you can service or replace the valve head in most cases without needing to drain the water tank or trough. This capability is invaluable in agricultural, industrial, and commercial settings where maintaining a constant water supply is non-negotiable and efficiency is key.

The Benefit of the Long Tail Design

While the Jobe Valves Detach System provides the convenience of a quick-release, the Detach Tail provides the necessary physical stability and thread length for a robust installation. Standard valve fittings often struggle to create a durable, flush connection when mounting through the side of a thin-walled tank, trough, or cistern. The Detach Long Tail is engineered with additional thread length compared to the standard short tail versions. This extra length ensures that the included backing nut and washer can fully engage, providing a substantial, secure attachment point. This secure installation helps hold the valve in place and reduces the chance of loosening from livestock contact or general wear and tear. The design is straightforward: the long tail extends through the tank wall, and the large, easy-to-handle backing nut and washer are applied from the inside, ensuring the valve is firmly fixed and ready for the main valve body to be clicked into place via the Detach System. The Long Tail suits tank walls up to about ½" thick, which leaves room for the backing nut and plumbing fittings; most tanks are around ¼" thick.

Quick Tail Difference: Long vs. Short

The key difference is the installation hardware and thread length. The Long Tail features extra thread and includes a backing nut and seal washer, making it specifically designed for mounting through the wall of a tank or trough. The Short Tail has a compact thread profile and is used for screwing directly into an existing internal threaded port or adapter already installed in the tank.
