Jobe Valves, Topaz PartFill Float Valve.
Description
Jobe Valves Topaz Partfill float valve is a high flow valve intended for use in rainwater harvesting tanks. The purpose of the Topaz Partfill float valve is to automatically maintain a low level of water in the tank during periods of no or low rainfall. This allows services fed by the tank to continue while leaving capacity in the tank for refilling by the next rain.
DLT (Detachable Long Tail) – the Detach Long Tail is a unique thread that is longer than standard threads, and includes a seal washer and backing nut. The threads are designed to hold the valve in place in a tank, so no other fittings are required. The threads extend through the tank ,with the seal washer inside the tank, and the backing nut on the outside. The nut is tightened up, leaving remaining threads exposed for the water supply line to be attached.
Applications
Maintaining water levels in:
• Rainwater harvesting tanks
• Water cisterns
• Irrigation and process applications.
Principle of Operation
• The Topaz Partfill float Valve is installed through the side wall of a storage tank. It should be mounted above the overflow level of the tank to prevent backflow.
• As the tank empties the weighted float travels down the cord and sits on the bottom stop to activate the valve.
• The Topaz Partfill float valve will run until the weighted float lifts clear of the bottom stop.
• The float will then rise as rainwater fills the tank and falls as the tank water is used.
• The Valve will only function at times when rain fall is insufficient to maintain a water level in the tank above the bottom stop.
Features
• Ideal for use with all makes and models of rain water harvesting tanks
• Compact
• Constructed from non corroding materials
• Valve can be locked in off position using the lock off switch
• Up to 150mm differential obtainable (dependent on pressure)
• Detach Valve Seal Access System for quick access to valve seal (Patented)
Long Tail VS Short Tail:
The Key Difference between long and short tail is the amount of thread available to attach to your plumbing. Another important distinction is that short tail valves do not include a backing nut and seal washer. For more information please review this post.
Selecting the right inlet size:
Selecting the right size inlet is very important to the performance of your Jobe Valves Topaz Partfill float valve. The inlet of the float valve should match your supply plumbing. For instance if your supply plumbing is 3/4" you will get no better performance from a 1" valve. Your flow rate will always be limited by the smallest pipe. Always match your Topaz Partfill float valve inlet size to your water supply pipe size. If you intend on upgrading your water supply plumbing at some point you can always purchase a different Detach tail. For more information on Jobe Valves Detach tails visit the links below.
