A lot of the older clamp-on float valves still doing daily duty on troughs and tanks share the same limitation: they're restrictive by design. That's fine right up until a herd drains a tank faster than the valve can refill it, and now there's a stretch of the day where animals are standing around an empty or slowly-filling trough. The usual fix is ripping out the old valve and installing a high-flow model like Topaz or Megaflow. There's a cheaper, faster option worth knowing about first.
What the TraNZformer Actually Does

A Side Benefit: Less Wear on the Old Valve
Once the TraNZformer is handling the actual water volume, the original valve's internal components aren't working nearly as hard — they're just triggering open and closed rather than straining to pass a full flow rate through a narrow path. That tends to extend the working life of a valve that might otherwise be nearing the end of its service anyway.
When a Full Valve Swap Still Makes More Sense
The TraNZformer is built specifically for valves with a GHT inlet — confirm that's what you're working with before ordering. And if the underlying valve is genuinely failing (cracked housing, a float that's stopped reading level accurately, a seat that won't seal), no amount of upstream flow improvement fixes that; at that point a full replacement with Topaz or Megaflow is the right call, not a retrofit.
