Topaz is Jobe's workhorse — the line most farms and facilities end up on by default, because it covers the widest range of mounting situations rather than specializing in one.

What Makes It the "Default" Choice

Topaz mounts above or below the waterline — the same valve adapts to whatever your tank layout actually requires, rather than forcing you into one installation style. With ¾" to 1.25" inlets and flow up to 50 GPM, it covers most general-purpose trough, tank, and cistern applications.

Five Configurations Under One Name, Each Solving a Different Problem

• Standard Topaz — the default full-on/full-off valve for general tank filling, up to 50 GPM.
• Topaz Differential — for pump-fed systems, keeps a wide gap between fill and shutoff to prevent short-cycling and protect the pump.
• Topaz PartFill — for rainwater harvesting, maintains a low reserve level rather than a full tank, preserving capacity for the next rain.
• Topaz Compact — a smaller footprint for tight installation spaces where a standard body won't fit.
• Topaz Industro — rated to 176°F (80°C) versus the standard Topaz's 140°F (60°C) limit, and delivers up to 55–90 GPM depending on inlet size. Built specifically for hot water and industrial applications where a standard valve's heat rating isn't enough — car wash hot water bays, boiler rooms, cooling towers. Running standard Topaz on water this hot is a common cause of a valve sticking open and flooding an equipment room.

Sizing Check Before You Order

Match the inlet to your actual supply line, not the tank size. A 1.25" Topaz on ¾" supply plumbing performs like a ¾" valve — the smaller pipe sets the ceiling on flow regardless of what the valve is rated for.

Serviceability

Topaz uses a quarter-turn Detach system — twist and pull the valve body off its base without shutting off the main supply or draining the tank. A Topaz/Megaflow service kit covers the diaphragm and pilot filter for standard Topaz; Industro uses its own dedicated service kit and Detach tails, since its materials are built for the higher heat range.

Choosing the Right Configuration

Most general trough and tank filling needs are covered by Standard Topaz. Pump-fed systems should use Differential to protect the pump from short-cycling. Rainwater setups need PartFill. Tight spaces call for Compact. And anything running hot water needs Industro — using a standard-rated valve on hot water is the single most common cause of premature failure in that setup.
